ABOUT
Don’t Tell Mother is an off-beat, domestic comedy about the Rooney family- a once politically connected clan from Albany, New York with too many secrets to hide. The story takes place during Thanksgiving weekend, when American families traditionally reunite to celebrate each other's company. However, this Thanksgiving the Rooneys will face a major obstacle to that tradition as they're confronted by the most harrowing of their secrets in a way that threatens to break the family apart. On top of that they all just might go to jail.
Using a playful mix of realism and fantasy Don’t Tell Mother explores the delicate nature of family relationships, and how difficult it often is to really know the people we long to be closest to. Cognitive scientists have suggested that our mental model of the nation derives from how we think of our family. Is the increasing dysfunction in our national politics a byproduct of the increasing pressures on the typical American family? Is there something of the Rooney Clan in all of us? |
